THE BRIDGE
I was far across the water
Locked away inside
We were high up in the mountains
On the other side
I was swept up by the darkness
A force I could not fight
The silver moon was full and trembling
Pulling in the tide
And I don't want to be your anchor
The ocean here is wide
The land gets swallowed by the water
Becoming a barrier island
I stared across this big, gray ocean
When I was a child
Even in the deepest canyons
There exists a light
And we don't need to swim forever
Our souls are intertwined
You're the land and I'm the water
A bridge to the other side
When our souls first came together
I saw it in your eyes
A shiny pearl in the darkest canyon
The purest source of light
The silver moon is just a sliver
Pulling out the tide
The longest bridge, we crossed together
To the other side.
